Examinations may be easy or difficult, depending on the way you want for your examinations. As the word goes, if you neglect to plan, you want to fail.
Planning is an essential stage in everyone’s lives. You plan for a trip and determine the places to go. You plan your timetable daily and you want to play an hour of Halo 3 tonight from 10pm to 11pm. You plan to sleep at 11pm, or your mother plans for you to sleep at 11pm. Planning is undeniably important to ensure that you can make sure you’ve covered everything.
How then, do you go about planning your examinations and what qualities do you need to flourish in planning for your examinations?
The initial question many people ask is how early should I prepare myself for the examinations? It depends on the consistency of yourself and the amount of subjects that you’ve to take. For my university examinations, I normally plan 3 – 4 weeks of studying time 2021 waec expo, and that’s if I have now been consistently following tutorials and lectures. If you should be a person who hasn’t been consistent along with your work, you most likely need 2-3 weeks more to brush up on your foundation. You need to also be willing to stay glued to your plan, else everything will fail.
When I plan, I print out the a monthly calender with the examination dates written on it. Then I start by counting the amount of days I’ve from now till the examinations, and I divide my time equally. If you should be weaker in another subject, you may have to sacrifice time faraway from studying your very best subject and dedicating it to your weaker ones.
If you have been consistently following up on your lessons, your foundations should be good enough. Thus you are able to spend your time practicing on past year papers to ensure that you will get a feel of how good you are. Do make sure to time yourself sometimes so you understand how fast you are able to complete a particular paper. Past year papers from the ten year series, along with school papers from other schools are recommended.
Do remember it is better to work with harder questions, than to work with easy ones and think you started using it right, only to be complacent and flunk the examination.
Another tip that everyone should already know is to study for a specific examination when you’re going for it another day. For example, if tomorrow’s your chemistry paper, study chemistry and not physics. If you have two papers for a passing fancy day, do make sure you are able to complete all your studies punctually!
